AWARDS

It was an amazing group of nominees for this year’s Massachusetts Gives Awards. The AFP MA Board and the Massachusetts Gives Committee had a tough time making final decisions as a result.
But decide they did – and now it is time for fundraisers, non-profit leaders and volunteers from across Massachusetts to come together on April 4 in Boston to celebrate the tremendous impact of philanthropy and honor the winners of this year’s Massachusetts Gives Awards, all of whom will be in attendance.

TOP PHILANTHROPIST AWARD

Bill and Joyce Cummings

Cummings Foundation is well known for awarding 100 grants of $100,000 each year to local nonprofits through the “$100K for 100” grant program. Through this program and others, the Foundation has awarded more than $225 million in recent years. Bill recently published a memoir, “Starting Small and Making It Big: An Entrepreneur's Journey to Billion-Dollar Philanthropist,” and we look forward to having him at this year’s Fundraising Day in Boston on December 4th at the Marriott Copley Place.

OUTSTANDING FUNDRAISING PROFESSIONAL

Amy Bronson, AVP, Advancement Resources and Strategic Talent Management, Boston University

Honoring Ms. Bronson as the outstanding senior fundraising professional for her 25 years of experience working for area colleges Harvard Law School, Boston College, and Boston University. We also honor Ms. Bronson as a national leader in the field of Talent Management, a pioneer in its establishment as a key division within the Advancement profession. We finally honor her for her work promoting the fundraising profession through her efforts with AFP, CASE, and other professional organizations both locally and nationally.

OUTSTANDING FUNDRAISING RISING STAR

Nikki Stewart, Vice President of Development, United South End Settlements

Honoring Ms. Stewart as this year's outstanding fundraising professional rising star, with less than 15 years experience working for nonprofit, charitable organizations. Nikki has been an integral part of United South End Settlements’ highly successful efforts to significantly scale up its fundraising as part of a fiscal turnaround.

OUTSTANDING PHILANTHROPIC FOUNDATION

Highland Street Foundation

Honoring the Foundation's financial support, innovation, and capacity building that has touched our region in so many ways---aiding young people, veterans, our homeless neighbors, non-profit organizations, and more--all in the spirit of bettering the communities where we live. Since 1989, the Highland Street Foundation has contributed more than $170 million to hundreds of non-profit organizations.

OUSTANDING FUNDRAISING VOLUNTEER

David and Lori Sprows

Honoring The Sprows' outstanding skills in motivating groups of donors and volunteers through work and personal philanthropy at the Berklee City Music program, which enables youth from underserved communities to develop musically, academically and socially through the study of music. Through their personal philanthropy, and the role they have played each year by co-chairing the Encore Gala for Berklee, they have changed many lives and helped students complete their undergraduate studies.
