Welcome Conference Speakers

2017 AFP MA Conference on Philanthropy

 
Dear Speakers,

A member of the AFP MA Conference Committee will be in touch with you about every aspect of preparing for the conference. Each session is scheduled for 60 or 75 minutes on Wednesday, November 29, 2017. Since AFP is strategically balancing a full schedule, we will need all presentations to be no longer or shorter than the assigned time including Q&A.  
 
If you haven't already, please send us a session title, session description, and headshot for marketing materials. Please send these to info@afpmass.org.
 
Here are some details you will want to know:
 
Conference Date:   Wednesday, November 29, 2017
Location:  Boston Marriott Copley Place, Fourth Floor, 110 Huntington Avenue, Boston, MA 02116
Parking: Parking is available at the Copley Place Mall which is connected to the Marriott
Topics:  Topics are approved by the Conference Program Committee. AFP is flexible if a speaker team wishes to build upon their topic or invite other speakers to join them to enhance the presentation. Please inform us in advance in the latter case.
 
All Speakers should have already received the following three documents.
 
 
Other items:
• Breakout rooms will have standard AV equipment (Podium, LCD projector, screen, wireless microphone, clicker, and panel table). Should you wish to present slides during your talk, please take note of the standard PowerPoint template provided above. This is optional. Presentations should be submitted to the Chapter office by Monday, Nov. 10th and will be made available online for conference attendees only. Please email presentations to info@afpmass.org.  More detailed instructions will be sent at the beginning of September. Key points to remember:
Speakers are expected to bring their own laptop on conference day with their presentation pre-loaded (or saved to a thumb drive.) 
• Breakfast, lunch and keynote address is complimentary for all speakers. Please contact info@afpmass.org to let us know your plans to accept the lunch invitation. If you would like to attend the full day, please see Speaker Checklist for more information.
• On conference day, please arrive at least 30 minutes before the start of your session to check in at the main registration desk and receive a badge. There will be an AV technician in your breakout room 15 minutes prior to your session to assist you in setting up and testing your slides. Please let us know beforehand if you will have a video as we will want to make a specific appointment with the technician to be in your room for a sound test.
• Breakout rooms will be assigned closer to the conference date.
• For MAC users, please bring the appropriate MAC adaptor cord to ensure easy access to standard LCD projectors.
 
 
Conference Registration
Breakfast, lunch and keynote address is complimentary for all speakers. Please contact info@afpmass.org to let us know your plans to accept the lunch invitation. If you would like to attend the full day, please see Speaker Checklist for more information.
 
 
Overnight Room Reservation
To reserve an overnight room, please contact Maggie Whiting at the Boston Marriott Copley, 617-937-5689, ext. 6737, and reference the AFP Massachusetts Chapter Conference.  There are overnight rooms available at a discounted rate of $299 per night, not including taxes and fees, until November 7th at 5 pm. Please reserve today as these rooms do sell out quickly.

AFP MA will provide a PowerPoint template and details about how to submit a presentation to the AFP office. The template is posted above.
