Fundraising Basics Course

The Basics Course is:

An Education for those who are new to the field of fundraising, those making a career change to development, junior professionals with one or two years experience, or non-profit managers/directors who wish to acquire the fundamental skills necessary for building a successful fundraising program.

A Series of Master Classes taught by a faculty of practicing professionals in the field who are eager to share their knowledge with you. You will have direct access to accomplished professionals from educational, health, social service and arts institutions.

A Lesson in the applications of fundraising techniques in the context of changing demographics, emerging management models and ethical challenges. This Course will cover all areas of the development process from identifying your priorities and prospects, through the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship process, running special events, and publications. Corporate and foundation solicitation strategies, major gifts, and capital campaign structures will also be covered. Handouts and related reference material will provide you with comprehensive summaries of each session.

An Opportunity to network with other professionals in the field.

An Experience that stays with you as a resource to draw upon as your fundraising career develops. All students who complete all eight sessions and the final project will receive an honors certificate.

The Basics program is offered in two consecutive full day sessions, three times a year. The sessions are scheduled from 8am-5pm each day and are held at the Radisson Hotel Boston.

Upcoming Basics sessions will be held in October 2010, March 2011 and June 2011--exact dates and details are forthcoming.
